I attended PTO meetings regularly during my principal residency. I learned about the value of having a strong a supportive PTO. Our PTO did many things to support our staff and students. One of their biggest achievements was West Idol, a student talent showcase. The meetings also gave me an opportunity to meet parents and discuss their ideas for the school.

This is an invitation that was sent to me to attend a church that many of our students are members of. This experience taught me about the importance of building relationships with our faith based community. This church has been particularly supportive throughout the year. They send monthly snacks to our teachers and have opened their doors as an off campus professional development location. I attended events like this throughout my residency.
